Who can compete in the CINEMA competition?

Law students from accredited law schools across the U.S. (and internationally, space permitting) may participate. Each team must consist of two students.

How are teams selected?

Participating schools manage their own internal selection processes. CINEMA accepts team registration through a designated team coach or administrator.

What’s the format of the competition?

Teams negotiate real-world entertainment law scenarios in multiple rounds. Each team receives a common set of facts and confidential information. Rounds are scored based on oral advocacy and negotiation skills.

Are materials provided in advance?

Yes. Fact patterns, rules, and schedules are released to registered teams ahead of the competition.

Are travel or lodging accommodations provided?

Teams are responsible for their own travel and lodging.

Yes! We encourage Cardozo students and guests to attend the final round and awards ceremony.

Will there be a virtual option for competitors or judges?

CINEMA 2025 will be held fully in person. A backup virtual option will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
